A few years ago, we started developing furniture and smaller products items which is now
marketed and distributed by companies such as Dryrun. It has since become a growing
business with us creating original design and producing them is small quantities. We find
that working with other professionals in other industries help nurture a creative spirit
which have influence outlook on design and compliments our main business which is
providing industrial design service as we feel that design does not stand alone and has to
be successfully interactive with its living space. Showcased below are
a few of our ideas. Some in production and other still in the developemnt phase.
SMARTWRAP
In 2001, we decided to develop our own inhouse products. The result is the creation of
smartwrap. It was later awarded a Design Distinction by ID magazine in 2002. Like many
using Earphones, we had problems with the length which became a bunch of knoted mess.So i
decided to do something about it. After many prototypes and designs, the final design was
put into production. We like to introduce a product which increases the interactive quality
of listening to music without messy earphone cords.
Smartwrap is a co branding product of sumajin and mrbanyJ.
FLEX
In 2004,the Flex champion series was created. At that time we were looking to create a
gift item which is different and unique. We wanted to create a product which is fun with a
design that is adaptable and having a character of its own. The 2 colour tones really make
it a refreshing visual effect being able to make it elastic introduces another dimension
to the tactile response of the product when used. We decided early on that it must be 3 in
a team. Individually playful and yet works well in a team-link; adding colours to our
gear. Attached Flex to keys, bags, zips... anywhere you like.
